A perfect introductory guide
This is such a great, accessible title for anyone who wants to expand their learning when it comes to they/them pronounces and how to approach using them in every day situations. The authors, one a gender queer artist who uses they/them pronouns and the other a CIS man, approach this book as an educational guide. The two take the reader through instances in which one can read a situation and ask what someone’s pronouns are if they’re not sure, or how to use gender neutral terms in general. They also include a short lesson on what to do if you catch yourself making a mistake and referring to someone with incorrect pronouns and how to apologize or move on. In my life I know many people who go by they/them pronouns, so a lot of this was pretty known to me, but I think many people who haven’t met someone who identifies outside of he/she will learn a good amount from this book. I am glad it exists. I ordered it for our library and I am excited for people to stumble upon it.
