A touching and candid memoir.

Wow. I don’t know how to properly review this. The story is so personal it’s hard to judge someone based on their life story. All I can say is that this is so beautifully done, interesting and intriguing, educational and hopeful all at the same time. I related to so many things within this graphic novel, even though I do not identify as non-binary or asexual. It’s a great read for anyone who is trying to learn more about e/em/eir pronouns, and approaches everything discussed in such a grounded and easy-going way, you can’t help but wish you could be friends with Maia. Also Maia has amazing taste in fanfiction, I fangirled a few times going “I read that too!” This is a personal journey partnered with wonderful illustrations (that sort of reminded me of an ‘adult’ version of Raina Telegmeier) and I would highly recommend it. I feel like I know Maia after reading this, which to me is a sign of a great candid writing style.
