Spy x Family (Volume 3)

The series is a delight.

This series continues to be a total joy to read. I honestly wish there was an anime of this because the way it’s written lends itself so much to an animated style. I love the changes in perspective and narrative in the story, which also lends itself to being a fun anime.

This volume introduces us to Yor’s absolutely ridiculous brother who is one hell of a character. Turns out, Yuri is a secret SSS agent working on behalf of the government to find and kill spies and those who go against the government. He thinks Loid/Twilight is just his new brother-in-law, no idea that he’s a spy, and Twilight has an idea that Yuri is in the secret police and thus is beginning to question Yor’s loyalty.

The story continues with Anya trying to win a dodgeball game at school to earn points toward becoming an elite scholar. She is on the same team as her rival, the son of Loid’s target. In a move of friendship, he defends her and lets himself get knocked out in order for her to have a better chance at winning. Anya is clearly the best character in this whole series. Yor gets shot at one point and it’s all played for laughs as Anya becomes a super spy in her own right. She is a baller. I want to be as cool as Anya.

This series is just genuine silly fun. There’s a crazy plot for such a silly story but it’s fantastic and highly amusing.
