This book is absolutely the shot of joy you need in your life.
In the style of other popular personal photo and fashion books like Humans of New York, Chinatown Pretty collects photos of people in the Chinatown areas of various North American cities. The style presented in this book RULES. All I want in life is to be as cool as Angie No Good. That man is a fucking boss. Estelle Kelly is my fashion icon now. Any woman who can rock a bright red 80s style power suit one day and a embroidered denim vest the next deserves sainthood.
The authors/photographers list where they met the person and what about their fashion stood out to them, as well as sometimes offering a bit of information on their history and how they came to live in Chinatown. Everything about this book is uplifting and fun and made me feel happy while I was reading. As I am from Chicago, seeing the authors talk so favorably about how beautiful and cool the Chicago area Chinatown is warmed my heart, especially because they mentioned the Chinatown library which is incredible.
Genuinely this book is such a joy. I love it wholeheartedly.
