Oh shit Bakugo!
As someone who reads a LOT of manga, one of the things that always stands out to me with a series is the ability to make both the small, emotional moments pack as much of a punch as the giant action scenes. It’s not easy since many stories rely on one rather than the other, but holy crap it rules when they meet in a perfect moment. This volume of MHA has that moment.
Spoiler Alert, but Bakugo is one of the best characters in this entire series, and the moment at the end of this volume is the culmination of so much storytelling through this series. I absolutely loved it. I was so drawn into the action of the plot that by the time the moment happened I lost my metaphorical mind. This volume does a great job of pulling through two different perspectives at once to show how overwhelming the fight against the villains is, and I loved how we got to see what everyone in the class was attempting to do to save one another and normal citizens. I also love watching the classmates gain more confidence in their abilities and take bigger risks, such as Kirishima and Ashido. Both are favorites of mine and consummate badasses, so them being inspired by others and one another to fight got me right in the feels.
Still, although he isn’t even in much of it, this is the Bakugo volume and fans will be talking about that moment for years to come. I can’t wait to see where we go from here!
