Moriarty (Vol. 4 & 5)

BeFunky-collage (2)

This series went from the Sherlock Holmes canon straight into James Bond in 4 easy steps, hot damn. It does make sense in that both characters have a lot in common, but we start off the 4th volume being dropped into the story of Moran and Moneypenny working together. Moneypenny is, of course, an agent in the James Bond series and I was not expecting to see her here, but she rules. I loved her interactions with Moran and this series was lacking in female characters.

Moran absolutely RULES. He has to be everyone’s favorite character overall, I assume because he is so interesting and badass. I loved how these volumes took a step back from constantly concentrating on Moriarty to branch out a bit. We even get more Sherlock and Watson at the end of the volume, so finally, the plot thickens!

Moriarty and Sherlock are together on the same train, playing a game of egocentric oneupmanship when someone screams as a man has been murdered in one of the carriages. As the two inspect the murder, John Watson walks out with blood on his shirt. Thus, we now have a mystery in order to clear Watson’s name! On top of that, we meet Irene Adler in this volume, and oh my god, I stan. Marry me, Irene. Let us run off together and commit crimes.

This series is so cool and different, I love every minute of it.
