Bojack Horseman as a comic about death
I am a simple woman. If I see funny pictures of anthropomorphized animals and bugs doing human shit, I will be amused.
This is basically a book of affirmations matched with a very loose story told through comic art. The animals in the story are nameless stand-ins for humans and they’re all dealing with issues regarding their lives. The accompanying art pieces go along with the affirmations until one realizes there is an asteroid coming and it’s the end of life as we know it. From there the comics depict those same characters coming to terms with the end of the world and learning to embrace the things they still have left in life.
This is weirdly depressing and wholesome all at once. The bug screaming LYNDA is my favorite and I will always love them. It feels very millennial as all we do as a generation is joke about being depressed at the end of the world. It’s a fun 5-minute read and motivating in that “live every day like it’s your last” sorta mantra, even though that is entirely impossible. This feels like Bojack Horseman in that it’s a similar style and a bit depressing.

I’ve never watched ‘Bojack Horseman’ but I’ve heard a lot of good things about it. I’m curious about this one but I’ll wait to see if it comes out at the library, it seems to insubstantial to actually buy a copy of.
