Oddly adorable
This is the adorable “of course this exists” type of manga you might look for on a rainy day. We all need a little bit of gay fantasy dragon god realness in our lives, right?
Chiharu is a writer whose first book did very well and is now experiencing writer’s block while working on his second book. He feels like no matter what he does; he will never live up to the legacy of his grandmother, who he loved dearly. He decides to return to his hometown and the home she left him to make peace with himself and hopefully work. Once he arrives, through a series of misadventures, he finds out that he was promised to a water dragon god as a bride years ago. Of course, they didn’t consider that dragon water gods could be into dudes at the time, but it’s 2023 now! Rin, the dragon in question, is incredibly charming and interested in the human world and is determined to make Chiharu love him so they can one day become a family. Chiharu isn’t so sure of anything in his life, especially not cute water dragon gods, so he’s a bit more skeptical, but Rin’s earnest and caring nature begins to win him over.
This is so cute and sweet while also being oddly compelling. I really wanted Chiharu and Rin to get together, the side characters were all fun and quirky, and the art was beautiful. I absolutely want to keep reading this series to see where these two end up, as this has all the tropes of your favorite ‘opposites attract’ or ‘fish out of water’ type romance, just with gay men and water dragons. A fast read and one that will make you smile.
