Very fun!
This is such a fun manga that feels so much like a K-Drama!
Hari Shin is having a pretty terrible couple of weeks. Her job is slowly breaking her, but she must stay with it to raise the money her family badly needs after the pandemic. Also, her longest friend and crush invited her to lunch, where he introduced her to his new love. She’s hitting rock bottom and decides to meet up with her wealthy friend, Yongseo. Youngseo is the daughter of a rich man constantly pushing her to go on dates so she will finally get married. After hearing Hari’s complaints about her life, Youngseo proposes to Hari; Hari pretends to be her to go on the dates her father sets up, and Youngseo will pay her in return, meaning she can cut back on her work hours as she will still be making money for the family.
Hari agrees and dresses up in a wig and out-of-character clothing for the date to scare the man off. However, the man she’s scheduled to meet is the new CEO of the company she works for and finds himself in a similar situation to Youngseo. In fact, he’s already decided he will propose to the woman he meets on the date to get everyone off his back, and the crazier Hari acts, the more into her he becomes. For him, her aloof and open sexual nature is great because they just need to be married; no deeper relationship is necessary. Hari is not about this life and tries to break it off with him, but he’s persistent. There’s also a charming subplot of mistaken identity between Youngseo and the CEO’s assistant.
This is 100% a manga I would recommend to anyone who loves romance novels full of tropes. There are enemies to lovers, mistaken identity, forced proximity, opposites attract, and workplace relationship elements all coming together here, so there’s something for all romance readers. Also, if you know someone who loves K-Dramas, I would recommend this as it reminded me of many ones I’ve seen on Netflix. A fun series I am excited to continue.
