It’s almost the end!

I cannot believe we are nearing the end of this excellent series! Beastars is a fascinating and innovative series that I honestly cannot believe I’ve gotten so into, but I am despondent to reach the end.

Volumes 20 and 21 of this series are the calm (sorta) before the storm of the last showdown between Legoshi and Melon. In these volumes, we find ourselves having the stage set for the conflict between herbivores and carnivores and cling to the hope that our favorite characters will come out relatively unscathed. Of course, this is Beastars, so there will be angst and injury along the way. Melon, everyone’s favorite sociopathic murderer, is ready to start this culture war and willing to take everyone down with him. Melon needs therapy ASAP, and his mother issues will be his demise as he slowly realizes that his leopard side is becoming more and more prominent despite him being a hybrid. Kyu, the rabbit being held in the black market, has befriended Legoshi and tries to train him to be a true fighter, but he has no idea that she is a traitor and is selling information about him to Melon. We also see some incredible battles in these volumes between Legoshi and the clan of Komodo Dragons and the Inari-Gumi, the badass lady foxes of the black market. Fan favorites, the Shu-Gumi clan, are also back, and this time, they’re attempting to save my favorite character, Louis, after he is arrested post-press conference. These volumes help set the stage for what will inevitably be a thrilling and violent final volume, and I am both excited to get there and devastated this remarkable series is ending!
