Adorable!

I absolutely adored this manga! It’s perfect for anyone who identifies as a nerd in their thirties, as we’ve all had some daydreams like this at one time or another.

Tsukina is in her thirties, single, and likes to read and chill around her house. Randomly, she is approached by a god who informs her she was chosen to be a magical savior in another world! Tsukina is in her thirties, not high school like most characters, so she has a bigger worldview and rejects being the savior since it will be more work than she desires. Ultimately, she’s strong-armed into going by god, but she requests a few things for the trip that only a nerd in their thirties would ask for. It’s very meta and amusing.

Once she arrives, she uses the powers given to her to open her book café, filling the shelves with her favorite books and books she has wanted to read. Her new magical powers make cooking and cleaning incredibly easy, and she settles in to enjoy her life before realizing customers exist. One such customer is a high-ranking soldier in the country’s army who loves nothing more than escaping his life into a novel. Tsukina develops a crush on him, all while finding out the troublemaking royal that he serves under is none other than another ‘savior.’ This one determined to do nothing for the country besides fueling her desires. Because of the original savior’s lack of preparedness, the god wants Tsukina to take her down and take her place.

This was a super fun read that I enjoyed a lot. There was a significant amount of meta-commentary here, mainly because Tsukina is old enough to understand she needs to ask for translation abilities and all the powers the god can give her. Hence, her life is as easy as possible. Her love interest is also very charming and dreamy, which makes their will they won’t they flirtation equally sweet and awkward. This is a series I will absolutely continue reading.
