This adorable manga is perfect for the K-Pop/J-Pop fan in your life.
Sahoko is a teenage girl who has written off love as ever being an option after a bad childhood experience. She finds love pointless and actively hates attractive people, feeling that they can get anything they want in life purely coasting on their looks. Her best friend is a massive fan of the famous pop group Like Legend, especially the leader, Kouta Kirigaya. Sahoko does not bother herself with idol groups since they’re all made up of attractive boys that she assumes are morons and rails against her friends’ love.
Then, one day, Kouta Kirigaya wanders into her family’s restaurant, and Sahoko serves him. He mistakes her for a fan, and she goes off on him, projecting all her insecurities about love and attraction onto him and telling him she will never be a fan. Of course, Kouta does not take this lightly and begins to show up at the restaurant daily to win her over and convince her that not all guys are the same.
This would be an excellent recommendation if you have a teen who loves a specific pop group or something along those lines. While I found it a bit juvenile, this isn’t made or targeted to me, so it’s entirely understandable that a younger teen would adore this. It feels very timely, and the band immediately made me think of BTS, so I think many teenagers would have some fun from the series.
