Dramatic and Emotional
This series is so emotionally draining!
Now that Miyo has been sent away by her family and has moved to live with Kiyoka, her life has improved. Her mental state is still on edge, and she has no self-worth. She questions everything she does, does not believe in herself, and is ready at any moment to be reprimanded for the tiniest things. Though Kiyoka has a reputation for being a tough, cold leader, he is much softer when it comes to Miyo. He treats her with respect after realizing she always acts like a caged animal after what her family had done to her.
As the relationship of mutual respect between Miyo and Kiyoka grows, so do the efforts of those who want to keep them apart. Miyo’s own family, the Saimori family, want to rescind their agreement to send Miyo away and instead have Kiyoka marry her sister, Kaya. Kaya is an awful character who takes joy in ruining anything Miyo has the slightest bit of affection for. Kaya is already engaged to another man, who always had a crush on Miyo, and Kaya treats him badly as well. She’s a victim of her upbringing and doesn’t seem to have any compassion for others. She and her father will do anything to take Miyo down and gain power, so things can only get worse from here. How fun. This series is really well done but I always feel like I need to read The Way of the Househusband or something silly after I finish a volume of My Happy Marriage.
