Cute but simple

This manga reads like it’s made for a Disney Channel original series. That isn’t a complaint or a criticism, I think it’s simply a perfect encapsulation of who would get the most enjoyment from this series.

Yui is a young woman around 15 or 16, who is sent away and sold by her terrible family to one much richer and more important. She is sold away so she doesn’t bring a bad reputation to her family, as she comes from a family line filled with magic despite having none herself. She is viewed as a disappointment and thus given away. When she arrives at her new home, she is treated with respect and care for the first time in her life. Once she is happy and feels better about herself, her magic begins to manifest. Yui is gifted with the ability to enchant the things she sews, and her nature as someone caring and kind allows other magical creatures to come to her aid when needed.

This is a very sweet volume to a series that seems to follow that path. Yui is a likable protagonist and does not deserve the life she has been dealt. I think a lot of teenagers or young adults will relate to her familial plight, and there seems to be a love-interest story building. The one issue is the man she seems to be marrying is far older than her, but as usual with manga, young women are drawn to seem much younger, whereas men are drawn more aged up. Not sure if this relationship will continue, but it did give me the ick. Overall this seems very cute and would be a good recommendation for younger manga readers who may just be getting interested in the format.
