The Christmas Cafe

Hallmark cheese.

This is a perfect Hallmark-style romance that I am genuinely shocked hasn’t been a movie turned to book or book to movie. At least, not yet. It’s a pretty basic story of a woman named Sylvie who works at a small Christmas Cafe that is going under. She’s the definition of a small-town woman who lives with family and an adorable small dog. When she learns that the cafe is to be sold off, she tries to convince the crew of a Holiday movie to film at the cafe. She has immediate sparks with the lead actor, Royce, as well as her friend Abe, who has come home to manage his parent’s goat farm. Only in romance novels are people’s profession’s goat farmer. Anyway, the book makes it very clear who she will end up with, and there’s not so much of a love triangle as you’d want. This is the epitome of a holiday book. It’s a fine read; all they do is kiss, and the minute I finished reading it, I forgot it existed. Great for a night read and easy to recommend to basically anyone.
