Another great installment!

As usual, the new volume of Moriarty: The Patriot is a home run. I’ve grown into such a huge fan of this series, and it’s a fun, interesting take on a beloved character. I feel as though it’s moving toward its conclusion, which I am shockingly not sad about, as this series has been paced excellently.

In this volume, William reveals his master plan to the family and trusted associates. He will allow the world to be aware he is indeed the Lord of Crime and thus can put his plan in motion to bring about the fall of the British Empire. He continues to murder all those he deems unworthy, all of whom happen to be influential figures in the government or have titles. The murders start a domino effect that leads to the poor becoming worse off than ever and disillusioned with their government, which William hopes will be the catalyst for revolution. All the while, Sherlock Holmes has been arrested for William’s crime but is then called upon by the Queen herself to try and solve the case. Mycroft is looking out for him and John, but he also knows something fishy is happening.

This volume has a lot of set up for what is to come and depicts a break in the Moriarty family ranks in which several members go against William’s plan to die, as they think the plan can still continue without their leader’s death. It sets up some interesting interactions, and I’m sure those will come to fruition once we reach the climax of the story. This continues to be a super fun read and one I never regret.
