Oh how I love Lin Manuel-Miranda.

I don’t know how one person can be that talented and compassionate. I’d almost hate him for it if I wasn’t sure he’s just a great dude all around. Gmorning, Gnight is a collection of some of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s best tweets in his specific daily format. Lots of people react favorably to these tweets, spurring them on to face the day, so he published this short collection including illustrations from Jonny Sun.

This was such a beautiful and inspiring read, especially now when it feels like the world is hitting rock bottom. Lin’s voice comes across in the written word exactly as his speech does. In fact in many cases I could hear his voice in my head while I was reading some of these. I would consider this a book of affirmations, though lacking a “date by date” format, you could easily pick this up and read any of the entries whenever you needed a boost and they would inspire something within you.

One of my personal favorites that lit something within me was “Good morning. Don’t wait on anyone to make your favorite thing. Make your own favorite thing. Go.” Little passages like that pack so much meaning.

If you’re a fan of Lin Manuel, or you just need a little pick me up to remind you that there is greatness in the world, namely you yourself, check this book out.
