Silly bouts of total fun

Listen, writing a review of this series honestly would ruin it for you. It’s fucking great. Don’t think this series has some long reaching, over-arcing narrative. It’s not the life story of an ex-Yakuza leader full of twists and intrigue. It’s little vingettes of a man who turned away from crime and embraced baked goods, as so many of us have. It’s so fun and silly and over the top and ridiculous, it’s a perfect “cleansing the palette” read. I always save this series to read between heavier books, and it brightens my day every single time.

Sometimes you just need to read about ex-gang leaders at a dog park okay? Sometimes it’s fun to read about a dedicated working woman coming home to her super cool husband who also has murdered before, but now spends his days fighting cockroaches and teaching his underlings how to buy good boba ingredients. I CANNOT wait until the adaptation of this finally hits our screens. Total comfort reading.
